Let me start by saying I know I’m a little late posting this, but it took me awhile to decide on my list for the year. One of my goals this year was to read more with the main bulk of it being the random books I’ve accumulated on my bookshelf. I’ve also made the mistake of following a bunch of lovely Instagram feeds and have since added several more books that are not on my shelf.
I started making my list by using Goodreads and for those of you who love making lists/planning/tracking it is a dream. You can add books you want to read, make a reading list and even track your progress in the books you are currently reading. Another handy thing is that it can link to you Amazon account. That way you can directly add books you purchase on Amazon or purchase for your Kindle.
Some of my inspiration for my booklist:
Belletrist – ‘Every month, Belletrist features a different book and a favorite independent bookstore, both chosen by Emma Roberts + Karah Preiss.’
I mean is there a better name for a book club?!
“Belles-lettres or belles lettres is a category of writing, originally meaning beautiful or fine writing. … A writer of belles-lettres is a belletrist. Literally, belles-lettres is a French phrase meaning “beautiful” or “fine” writing.” – Wikipedia
Our Shared Shelf – A feminist book club by Emma Watson on Goodreads
I know another book club by a famous actor named Emma but it’s seriously great. The community is was drew me in and also led me to Book Fairies.
Book Fairies – “The idea of The Book Fairies is simple. There are people who like to read, and to share the books they’ve read. And guess what – everyone loves a nice surprise! These two things come together with The Book Fairies – giving people a chance to pop a sticker and some ribbon on a book, make it a little surprise gift for someone, and leave it somewhere to be discovered!”

For my most recent attempt at reading some poetry I tried something more classic and went with Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman. Sadly I think my short foray into poetry has come to an end as I just couldn't get on with this either! However this edition is gorgeous and am definitely eyeing up the rest of the collection – which thankfully isn't all poetry 🌿 – – – #waltwhitman #leavesofgrass #classicpoetry #gibbssmith #beautifulbooks #igreads #fortheloveofreading #readersofinstagram #bookcollector #bookish #mykindofbooks #bookphotography #culturetripbooks #booksasart #booklove #bibliophile
Biblio Curator – Insta Account
Not going to lie, I totally judge a book by its cover. If the design is great I’m definitely more apt to pick it up. This insta is a book design wonderland.
Bookish In Birmingham – Insta Account
I discovered this account when she found one of my Book Fairy books! She does quick reviews (short enough for insta) of the books she reads. Super great for my short attention span.
Ideal Book Shelf – Enamel Book Pins
THESE ARE THE CUTEST. I have told myself that I cannot buy one until I finish one of the books. Double motivation.
I love this idea for documenting reads. Being a creative I love Goodreads for its simple application but I am seriously considering this approach to document my reads. Also se creates these nifty digital book stamps!
Now on to my booklist!
